Jumanji the next level is based on the gang growing up and being in different situations. But after Spencer goes back into the game of jumanji the gang must go back to find him. But with the game being faulty some things go wrong and the gang must embark on a new adventure. Despite a few good moments Jumanji the next level did not work for me on most levels let me tell you why.
First of all i loved that there was some good character arcs throughout the film.
It was interesting to see how all the younger characters had developed and grown since the previous film. Spencer once again was the most interesting character and the breakdown of his relationship with Martha ( Morgan Turner) was explored and developed well. Even the two veteran actors Danny Devito and Danny Glover had a fun arc throughout.
Next i just have to make a little sign of appreciation at the sheer star power in this film. As they had the great cast before as well as new actors as well. Karen Gillan despite not being as strong as the first film did a solid performance. As well as to be expected both of the Dannies being fantastic as well. But my key standout out of the cast was Awkwafina. She was a truly fantastic added member of the cast. She bought a lot of charm and wit to the film. And she bought one of the few humourous performances of the movie with a fantastic Danny Devito impression.
Further developing on my previous point the film just wasn"t that funny. Apart from a few key moments the film just was nowhere near as funny as the first. With a large majority of it not landing. Making the film very awkward to watch which was a shame as the film is marketed as a comedy, so this was a disappointment. And another thing was that the film was very stereotypical of old people. Danny Devitos charecter was portraying a very stereotypical side to the elderly. Making them appear weak,grumpy and clumsy. This didn"t land well for me and i did not find it funny. This was a shame as his character was interesting towards the final act of the movie.
Next i thought that they added just enough new set locations and plot for this to be a justifiable sequel. The New locations of the snowy mountains and the new villages was interesting to explore and one of my favourite scenes came with the mandrills which was admittedly great to witness. And there was enough interesting new characters and arcs that distracted you from the negative that i am now going to tell you. The plot was just to similar to the first one. A lot of the scenes were just repeated from the first film but just with different characters interpreting different people. And a lot of the repeated plot points like Karen Gillans dance battles didn"t land as well and lacked the same charm as the first.
My next two negatives for me would be the repetitive use of body switching and the slow pacing. for this film they had the characters interpretating different people. But this time they made the characters switch multiple times to different characters. This was overused,repetitive and just over complicated a plot that didn"t need another weakness to it. And the film was incredibly dull and slow for a large majority. If i am honest the first 75% of the film plodded really slowly and there was a lot of boring scenes with characters honestly not doing a lot. Even the action sequences were largely underwhelming until the final act.
However my final positives would be the true star of the film alongside Awkwafina, Kevin Hart who bought the large majority of the much needed and lacking humour. His impression of Danny Glover was fantastic. He captured the essence of his character perfectly. Leading to him being a scene stealer with his hilarious remarks and personality traits of talking to slowly and forgetting things. And finally the final act was very entertaining. When all the characters returned to there original characters the film really picked up. Unfortunately it was a bit to late for the film but they saved themselves slightly. As the final confrontation with the villain was good. And the action and humour finally was starting to improve. So its a shame they only started getting it right in the final act. But it restored my faith that if they did another film i would enjoy it if they followed the formula of the final act consistently throughout.
My final negative and my main reason why i think this film didn"t work, was because none of the cast had the same charm as the first film. None of the cast had the comedic chemistry of the first film. They all appeared really awkward and it almost seemed like they didn"t know what they were saying half the time making it seem awkwardly improvised. And Jack Black was a massive disappointment. His impression of Fridge throughout the large majority of the film. Was a big turn off for me as it was irratating and a white actor playing a younger black actor was awkward and even offensive in places. And Dwayne Johnson was massively disappointing. Which is a shame as 90% of the time he is fantastic. His interpretation of Danny Devito was terrible and made me cringe. And he came across as a bafoon and stupid. And his repeated humour became repetitive and stale very quickly.
Overall despite a few good character arcs and comedic moments. And some key standout performances. Jumanji the next level did not work. The humour fell flat,the plot fell flat and the cast did not work well together. They tried something different and for me it didn"t work.

I love the MCU movies, been a huge fan right from Iron Man all the way to Infinity War. Avengers Endgame though not a bad movie, is not the ending the series deserved.
It felt like a real anti-climax after the epic Infinity War.
The pace is slow.
I mean seriously slow.
The characters have been ruined.
I mean WTF happened to Hulk and Thor?
Thor has been turned into a big fat beer swilling oaf and Hulk isn"t the Hulk at all.
The whole idea behind the Hulk is that you get him angry and you don"t like him when he"s angry.
Instead they turned him into Shrek.
I didn"t understand what the point was about all the jokes about Captain America"s ass? it was completely unnecessary. It didn"t add anything to the movie.
The humour throughout the movie was misplaced and wrong.
The funniest line for me was when Nebula told Gamora, she had the choice between him or a tree. Other than that, the humour was pretty bad.
There are huge plot holes in the movie.
For instance, Thano"s now travels forward in time to get the infinity stones and fails, which means he never got them in the first place so no one could have died the first time round.
Secondly, Nebula kills her past self. So how is she still alive in the future?
These weren"t the only one"s too. There were quite a lot of holes that simply didn"t flow on from Infinity War.
The whole thing with the time travel made a mess of the whole movie.
Look, it"s not a bad movie, per say, but after Infinity War, it had a lot to live up to.
Did it do it?
No.
The two best characters in Thor and Hulk especially after Thor Ragnarok were ruined for absolutely no reason whatsoever.
I kept hoping that sooner or later they would go back to their old selves, but that never happened.
The final fight scene was a mess. The fight scene in Infinity War was so much better, with so much action going on all over the field, but it didn"t feel disjointed, it flowed from scene to scene.
In Endgame the final fight scene felt like it was thrown together without any thought whatsoever.
Then the whole feminist fight scene at the end just summed up that Disney put more thought into their agenda pushing then the actual plot, it didn"t add anything to the movie, if anything, it just looked out of place and silly.
It"s a real shame, because I really want to love this movie, especially after Infinity War, but am really struggling because there was so much of it that was completely pointless.
It"s an end of an era, especially after the passing of the late, great Stan Lee.
I feel this movie could have had so much more.
A good movie, but not the ending the Avengers series deserved.

A lot of action, great fights, visually appealing. Alita character is charming, beautifully crafted but also brave and fierce, non stopping action scenes. A love story seasoned with violence, but nothing really bad.

Ki-woo is the one who has dreams of getting out of poverty by one day going to university. Despite not having that university education, Ki-woo is chosen by his university student friend Min, who is leaving to go to school, to take over his tutoring job to Park Da-hye, who Min plans to date once he returns to Seoul and she herself is in university. The Parks are a wealthy family who for four years have lived in their modernistic house designed by and the former residence of famed architect Namgoong. While Mr. and Mrs. Park are all about status, Mrs. Park has a flighty, simpleminded mentality and temperament, which Min tells Ki-woo to feel comfortable in lying to her about his education to get the job. In getting the job, Ki-woo further learns that Mrs. Park is looking for an art therapist for the Parks" adolescent son, Da-song, Ki-woo quickly recommending his professional art therapist friend "Jessica", really Ki-jung who he knows can pull off the scam in being the easiest liar of the four Kims. In Ki-woo also falling for Da-hye, he begins to envision himself in that house, and thus the Kims as a collective start a plan for all the Kims, like Ki-jung using assumed names, to replace existing servants in the Parks" employ in orchestrating reasons for them to be fired. The most difficult to get rid of may be Moon-gwang, the Parks" housekeeper who literally came with the house - she Namgoong"s housekeeper when he lived there - and thus knows all the little nooks and crannies of it better than the Parks themselves. The question then becomes how far the Kims can take this scam in their quest to become their version of the Parks / South Korea / user ratings - 8,9 of 10 star

Imagine not wanting to watch such a brilliant movie because you have to read the subtitles. ?? ?? I cant stand people. This movie gave me goosebumps afterwards. Woah lots of interesting shots, looks like they went full on “Every Frame a Painting. Definitely going to watch. The Koreans really know how to make movies. Never fail to amaze. As a korean, I find it very surprising how western audiences understand and resonate with Korean social commentaries. This film include quite a number of Korean-specific-things that I thought western audience would not understand. But here I am seeing every one of youtube film critics praising this movie. World may be one after all.

“The South Korean film has become the first non-English language movie to win best picture at the Academy Awards” Never disappoint, so happy right now??. Bong Jongho: Why? Wooshik, starts sweating nervously: Uhhhhh. I was expecting to see some weird looking hand called Migi. It"s actually hilarious when people are mad about having to read subtitles. "Parasite" starts out as a biting, laugh-a-minute satire about class, but then sharply pulls out the rug from under it"s audience in the best of ways that defines easy genre categorization.

When Park Seo Joon comes by, I was like. I know this dude. because the face wasn"t clear and I"m blind af, it took me awhile. but then he screams (curses) and I was like AH YES THATS HIM ALRIGHT, MY BOI SEO JOONIE I know this is very stupid, but for me personally, I was so happy I was able to identify him through his way of acting and his voice alone. This movie has such a great message about our society. im deeply moved and wanna cry so bad after watching it but it wont come out. the best thing about it is its something not only happening in South Korea but also in most other parts of the world. a great movie transcends borders and relates to everyone ??.

Best scene in the movie, the concussed lady throwing up in a toilet as it quickly cuts to the familys toilet erupting with sewage water almost like the pipes were directly connected. The Film starts slow and steady, with Nicely captured Visuals, as the film proceeded it Gets intresting at some point there"re some unexpected turn arounds and during the climax the film leaves you anxious, one of the finest films that i have watched. What is all the excitement about? I watched the first 57min and could not find anything particularly funny, or interesting or clever. The acting is flat, the personalities of the characters are not compelling. I"m not wondering what happens next. I"ll give a movie an hour but by then it has to pay off or I"m done.

I"m really upset that none of these extremely talented Korean actors were nominated for awards. 6:25 just realized how brilliant of a facial expression this actor conveyed in this scene. absolutely horrific and hilarious. Bong"s movie is truly a masterpiece for the ages. I was honestly surprised to see such a turn in plot, feelings and actions. My heart was a roller coaster of emotions, laughing and being comfortably sitted and later on the edge of my seat, not laughing now but still rooting for them. The soundtrack was gorgeous, the editing superb, the acting was so genuine and looked effortless. This movie really spiked my interest not only in more of Bong"s movies but in korean movies in general.

Is the movie being advertised as 0.99 to anyone else and then actually costing 5.99. I thought it was interesting that the start of the montage, when it says she may look like a sheep, but on the inside she"s a fox. sometimes she acts like she owns the house, it"s referring to the housekeeping, but the camera lingers on Ki-Jeong and those words could sort of refer to her too since she"s very cunning but acts innocent, and later her family points out how easily she fits into the Park"s lifestyle. This movie is so amazing, getting more impressed and into other korean films. Don"t read another review. Don"t watch a trailer. As soon as you get the next opportunity, watch this film. That"s all.
